Taiwan Export Orders Fall More than Expected
Export orders from Taiwan slumped 6.6 percent year-on-year in November of 2019, following a 3.5 percent drop in the previous month and much worse than market expectations of a 1.5 percent decline. It is the biggest annual fall in 4 months, mainly due to declines in orders for information and communication products (-8.1 percent) while those of electronic products increased 2.2 percent. Orders declined from China (-1.2 percent), the US (-4 percent), Europe (-13.5 percent), ASEAN countries (-9.5 percent) and Japan (-11.1 percent). So far in 2019, export orders went down 5.9 percent.

Taiwan Export Orders Fall Less than Expected
Taiwan's export orders decreased 3.5 percent year-on-year to USD 47.28 billion in October 2019, less than a 4.9 percent fall in previous month and below market expectations of a 3.8 percent drop. It was the 12th straight monthly decline, as demand continued to fell for information & communication products (-0.2 percent); others (-5.8 percent); basic metals (-14.8 percent); optical, photographic, cinematographic apparatus (-13.8 percent); plastics and rubber (-13.3 percent); machineries (-10.3 percent); chemicals (-24.2 percent); mineral products (-13.1 percent) and textile products (-0.1 percent). On the other hand, orders increased for electronic products (1.7 percent); electrical machinery products (5.8 percent) and transport equipment (10.3 percent. Among major trade partners, exports orders went down from the US (-3.0 percent); China & Hong Kong (-7.3 percent); ASEAN (-5.9 percent); Japan (-15.1 percent) and others (-6.8 percent); while those from Europe rose (5.1 percent).

Taiwan Export Orders Fall For 11th Month
Taiwan's export orders declined 4.9 percent year-on-year to USD 45.53 billion in September of 2019, following an 8.3 percent fall in the previous month and in line with market expectations. It was the 11th consecutive decline, as demand continued to decline for information & communication products (-1.0 percent); electronic products (-4.3 percent); optical, photographic, cinematographic apparatus (-2.5 percent); basic metals (-18.9 percent); machineries (-12.1 percent); chemicals (-18.7 percent); mineral products (-15.5 percent) and textile products (-4.9 percent). On the other hand, orders increased for electrical machinery products (2.6 percent) and transport equipment (10.8 percent). Among major trade partners, exports orders went down from the US (-1.8 percent); China & Hong Kong (-3.0 percent); Europe (-8.6 percent); ASEAN (-5.6 percent) and Japan (-4.2 percent).

Taiwan Export Orders Fall For 10th Month
Taiwan's export orders declined 8.3 percent year-on-year to USD 40.05 billion in August 2019, the most in 5 months, following a 3 percent fall in the previous month and compared with market expectations of a 2.3 percent decrease. It is the 10th consecutive decline as demand continued to drop for chemicals (-12.4 percent), mineral products (-8.2 percent), plastics and rubber (-4.3 percent), basic metals (-1.4 percent), machinery (-2.7 percent), information & communication products (-5.8 percent), and electrical machinery products (-0.3 percent). On the other hand, orders increased for optical, photographic, cinematographic apparatus (10.4 percent), electronic products (3.5 percent), textiles (2.5 percent), and transport equipment (0.4 percent). Among major trade partners, exports orders went down from Europe (-11.1 percent) and the US (-0.7 percent), but rose from China & Hong Kong (3.8 percent), ASEAN (3.1 percent), and Japan (-1.9 percent).

Taiwan Export Orders Fall Less than Expected in July
Taiwan's export orders dropped 3 percent from a year earlier to USD 40.53 billion in July 2019, following a 4.5 percent fall in the previous month and compared with market consensus of a 5.9 percent decline. Demand decreased for electronic products (-1.3 percent), basic metals (-16.1 percent), machinery (-19.7 percent), textiles (-1.5 percent), plastics and rubber (-7.4 percent), chemicals (-5.3 percent), optical, photographic, cinematographic apparatus (-8.8 percent), and information & communication products (-3.2 percent). Meanwhile, orders rose for transport equipment (11 percent), electrical machinery products (1.6 percent), and mineral products (9.7 percent). Among major trade partners, exports orders went down from China & Hong Kong (-6.3 percent), ASEAN (-8.1 percent), Europe (-1.8 percent), the US (-1.6 percent), but increased from Japan (-0.7 percent).

Taiwan's export orders declined 4.5 percent from a year earlier to USD 38.50 billion in June 2019, following a 5.8 percent fall in the previous month and compared to market expectations of a 0.8 percent decrease. Demand dropped for electronic products (-4.3 percent), basic metals (-15.7 percent), machinery (-22.3 percent), plastics and rubber (-9.6 percent), chemicals (-18.5 percent), optical, photographic, cinematographic apparatus (-8.5 percent), and electrical machinery products (-4.6 percent). By contrast, orders for information & communication products rose 4.7 percent. Among major trade partners, exports orders declined from China & Hong Kong (-14.6 percent), ASEAN (-13 percent), Japan (-7.9 percent), and Europe (-5.3 percent), but increased from the US (6.8 percent).
