Mozambique Inflation Rate at 7-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique quickened to 2.58 percent in November 2019 from 2.25 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since April, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.22 percent vs 3.81 percent in October); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.08 percent vs 3.81 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (2.29 percent vs 1.89 percent). On the other hand, inflation slowed for housing & utilities (1.15 percent vs 1.55 percent); restaurants & hotels (4.02 percent vs 4.26 percent); clothing & footwear (3.23 percent vs 3.61 percent) and health (7.39 percent vs 7.78 percent). Meantime, cost fell for transport (-0.47 percent vs -0.50 percent); recreation & culture (-1.35 percent vs -0.61 percent); communications (-0.66 percent vs -0.64 percent) and furnishings (-0.24 percent vs -0.15 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.59 percent, after increasing 0.31 percent in the prior month.

Mozambique Inflation Rate at 4-Month High of 2.25%
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique rose to 2.25 percent in October 2019 from 2.01 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since June, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.81 percent vs 3.30 percent in September); restaurants & hotels (4.26 percent vs 3.99 percent); health (7.78 percent vs 4.48 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.81 percent vs 2.84 percent). In contrast, cost fell for transport (-0.50 percent vs -0.88 percent); furnishings (-0.15 percent vs 0.02 percent); recreation & culture (-0.61 percent vs 0.04 percent) and communications (-0.64 percent vs -0.56 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.31 percent, after increasing 0.10 percent in the previous month.

Mozambique Inflation Rate Steady at 4-Year Low of 2%
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique stood at 2.0 percent in September 2019, its lowest level since July 2015. Prices slowed for housing & utilities (1.76 percent vs 1.94 percent in August) while they fell for transport (-0.88 percent vs 0.16 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.30 percent vs 3.23 percent); restaurants & hotels (3.99 percent vs 3.40 percent); clothing & footwear (3.87 percent vs 3.28 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (2.18 percent vs 1.50 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (2.84 percent vs 2.15 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent, the same pace as in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from prices of dried fish (2.6 percent); complete meals at restaurants (0.6 percent); peanuts (7.3 percent); wine (3.4 percent); mackerel (1.2 percent); capulana (1.1 percent) and butter beans (2.1 percent).

Mozambique Inflation Rate at Over 4-Year Low of 2.02%
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique edged down to 2.02 percent in August 2019, its lowest since July 2015, from 2.16 percent in the prior month. Prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.23 percent vs 3.24 percent in July); transport (0.16 percent vs 1.02 percent); housing & utilities (1.94 percent vs 3.05 percent); clothing & footwear (3.28 percent vs 3.34 percent); education (4.38 percent vs 4.39 percent) and health (4.33 percent vs 6.78 percent). Moreover, cost decreased for furnishings (-0.25 percent vs -0.51 percent) and communication (-0.63 percent vs -0.75 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.11 percent, after decreasing 0.31 percent in the previous month.

Mozambique Inflation Rate Hits 4-Year Low of 2.16%
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique fell further to 2.16 percent in July 2019 from 2.30 percent in the prior month, hitting its lowest level since July 2015. Prices rose at a softer pace mainly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.24 percent vs 3.30 percent in June); transport (1.02 percent vs 1.20 percent); clothing & footwear (3.34 percent vs 3.68 percent) and restaurants & hotels (2.69 percent vs 2.96 percent). Meantime, inflation was steady for housing & utilities (at 3.05 percent ) and education (at 4.39 percent). In addition, prices fell for furnishings (-0.51 percent vs -0.03 percent); communication (-0.75 percent vs -0.60 percent) and recreation & culture (-0.40 percent vs -1.27 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.31 percent, after decreasing 0.2 percent in the previous month.

Mozambique Inflation Rate at Over 1-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Mozambique dropped to 2.3 percent in June 2019 from 2.4 percent in the prior month, hitting its lowest level since April 2018. On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.2 percent, after a 0.3 percent decrease in the prior month, mainly attributable to the seasonality of the supply of vegetables, including potatoes and other tubers.
