Year-on-year, prices eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.6 percent compared to 3.6 percent in April); clothing and footwear (2.4 percent compared to 2.6 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.3 percent compared to 1.6 percent); health (1.2 percent compared to 1.9 percent); recreation and culture (0.7 percent compared to 1.2 percent) and education (2.3 percent compared to 2.4 percent). On the other hand, cost increased further for transport (1.9 percent compared to 1.8 percent); housing and utilities (15.0 percent compared to 13.1 percent); furnishing and household equipment (2.3 percent compared to 2.0 percent); restaurants and hotels (1.0 percent compared to 0.8 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (1.2 percent compared to 0.9 percent). In addition, inflation was steady for communication (0.1 percent, the same as in April).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were unchanged, following a 0.4 percent gain in the prior month. Prices of food dropped 0.5 percent from a 0.3 percent rise.
Annual core inflation, which excludes food and energy, went up 1.6 percent, up from a 1.4 percent increase in April.
